7 Steps for Anchoring Mastery
7 Steps for Anchoring Mastery

Anchoring can be a simple, easy to use method, of influence, provided you learn it correctly, and keep the following 7 tips in mind.
1. Don’t just anchor a “stateâ€, anchor a direction. I first shared this in a training about 3 years ago. If you focus on anchoring a state, then the anchoring strategy goes something like this.
a. Have the “state†you want them in in mind.
b. Notice when they are in the target state.
c. Anchor it with something unique – that does not break the state.
Anchoring the state when it is diminishing ensures that you will have to keep using your anchor to just maintain state. This is one of the most common mistake that happens to about 75% of NLP practitioners because the were not told to focus on direction as well.
2. Consider Wingert’s Advanced Anchoring Strategy.
a. Have the state in mind you want to anchor.
b. Notice when that state is present, AND intensifying.
c. Anchor it with something unique – with something that does not break the state.
The Wingert Anchoring Strategy, enables you to anchor the state when it is intensifying, and ensures that you will have to as little work as possible to maintain and enhance their experience.
3. Don’t just wait for the state, initiate it and anchor.
Another common mistake in NLP happens when you simply wait for the state to show up, then anchor it.
If you wait for someone to be in the “moodâ€, then you may have to wait for quite some time to find something worth anchoring. Believe it, some trainers actually teach it this way. What a do, and waste of time.
It’s the difference between being active and passive. Get the engine running, deliberately and then anchor it. How? There are two primary methods.
4. Initiate the state by getting them to talk about it.
5. Initiate the state by entering into it yourself. Sound like that state.
It is much easier to LEAD someone into a state, than to force them into one. The best hypnotists in the world can go into trance quickly and deeply. Because of this, they can help their clients to do so as well.
This is true in the covert persuasion world as well. Until you can experience deep passion, a wanting buying state, or a willingness to surrender, you will not be able to easily AND completely help your clients to as completely and quickly as you would like to.
6. Anchor where most people simply “don’t lookâ€.
Not just where they don’t look, but where they don’t listen either. Tonal anchors work so great, because most people seem to be almost tone deaf.
Get a little tape recorder and play with your totality. You may be surprised at how you sound, and the results you start getting after just playing for a short time.
Most anchoring in the old days was taught using touch. That definitely can work, but remember that there are many circumstances in which touch may not be appropriate.
At least until you use a tonal anchor, as well as embedded commands to set the stage for touch.
7. Practice often. Practice anchoring when it doesn’t matter.
Go to the mall. Go to the quickie mart. And simply practice. You want your skills to simply “show up†when needed. If you have to force them to show up, you’ll build force into both the state and the anchor. Practice until it becomes a second nature.
8. BONUS! Never work… at any NLP skill. Simply play.
Playing with a mildly flirtatious attitude will speed up your progress like you could never imagine.
